ASSESSMENT

My assessment of students within the art studio is mainly based on work ethic, professionalism, and completion of project criteria, not artistic ability. Every student artist in the school is performing at a different level, and it is only fair to assess them on concrete criteria that can truly be measured. My favored forms of assessment include planning procedures and reflective/open-ended essays on their own artwork. Here, students have the freedom to express their intentions, what they learned, what they would do differently, and the process that informed their creation.
